When communication stalls between a mentor and mentee, here's a step-by-step approach to resolving the situation:
โStep 1: Reach Out Again
If your mentor/mentee hasn't responded to your messages, it's a good idea to contact them again. People might miss notifications or be away on leave, so a follow-up message can serve as a gentle reminder.
For Mentees: Politely follow up with another message expressing your continued interest in their guidance and reiterate the points or questions from your initial message.
For Mentors: Consider sending a friendly follow-up to check in on the mentee's progress or to reiterate your availability and willingness to support them.
Step 2: Conclude the Relationship
If there's still no response after your follow-up attempt, it might be time to consider concluding the mentor-mentee relationship. You can conclude the relationship on the relationships page. Select the "conclude relationship" button on the bottom left-hand side of your dashboard.
Step 3: Moving Forward
Mentees: Connect with another mentor through the platform once your existing relationship has been concluded.
Mentors: Be patient while waiting for another mentee to be matched with you. Sometimes, it might take time for the program coordinators to find the right match.
Maintaining communication is key in any mentoring relationship, but sometimes circumstances prevent timely responses. It's important to handle these situations respectfully and professionally while also ensuring that the mentoring process continues effectively for both parties involved.
