If you are using Guider Video for a session, but you are unable to start the meeting the most common solution for this issue is to adjust your browser's permissions to enable camera and microphone access.

Tip: Make sure your device has a camera and a microphone.

On the Google Chrome browser, you can check the permissions by selecting the icon next to the URL, next enable camera / microphone access. Once this has been done, please refresh the page.

On the Microsoft Edge browser, you can check the permissions by selecting the icon next to the URL, next enable camera / microphone access. Once this has been done, please refresh the page.

I've granted the permission, but the quality of the session is really bad.

To ensure a smooth and high-quality video call experience, there are several factors to consider. This guide provides practical tips and recommendations for improving the quality of your video calls.

  1. Stable Internet Connection:

    • Use a reliable and high-speed internet connection.

    • Avoid downloading large files or streaming videos during the call.

    • Connect to a Wi-Fi network for a more stable connection.

  2. Quality Webcam and Microphone:

    • Invest in a good-quality webcam and microphone for clear video and audio.

    • Clean the camera lens and microphone to ensure optimal performance.

  3. Well-lit Environment:

    • Position yourself in a well-lit area to improve visibility.

    • Avoid sitting with a strong light source behind you, as it can create shadows and make your face less visible.

  4. Quiet Background:

    • Choose a quiet space for your calls to minimize background noise.

    • Inform others around you about the call to reduce unexpected interruptions.

  5. Adjust Camera Angle and Framing:

    • Position the camera at eye level for a more natural and engaging conversation.

    • Ensure that your face is well-framed, and there is enough space around you in the video feed.

  6. Close Unnecessary Applications:

    • Close unused applications and browser tabs to free up system resources.

    • This can improve the overall performance of your computer during the call.

  7. Test Your Equipment Before the Call:

    • Conduct a test call to check your camera, microphone, and internet connection.

    • Resolve any issues beforehand to avoid interruptions during the actual call.

  8. Use a Wired Connection (if possible):

    • If Wi-Fi is not stable, consider using a wired internet connection for better reliability.

    • Ethernet cables provide a more consistent and faster connection compared to Wi-Fi.

  9. Update Software and Drivers:

    • Ensure that your video conferencing application, operating system, and hardware drivers are up to date.

    • Regular updates often include performance improvements and bug fixes.

  10. Use a Headset (Optional):

    • Consider using a headset with a built-in microphone for clearer audio and to minimize background noise.

By implementing these tips, you can significantly enhance the quality of your video calls, ensuring a more productive and enjoyable experience for all participants. If issues persist, consult your video conferencing platform's support resources for additional assistance.
