Mentee Perspective:

  1. Match with potential mentors

  2. Send out a Mentoring request

  3. Once approved, schedule a date and time for an introductory session

    1. Utilize the “Availability” scheduling tool to view your mentors availability

    2. If your mentor is free at a certain recurring time and day, select ‘repeat’ after clicking on the preferred time

  4. Book a mentoring session for any date and time you and your mentor are both available

  5. Sessions can be rescheduled at any time pending a scheduling issue

Mentor Perspective:

  1. Receive a Mentoring request

  2. Schedule a date and time for an Intro session

  3. Utilize the “Availability” scheduling tool to make your life easier and more efficient

    1. Managing your availability by seamlessly integrating your calendar with Guider is strongly recommended

    2. Your mentee will not be able to see the contents of your calendar, just when you’re free and when you’re busy

    3. Providing times you are often available helps sessions get rolling

  4. Alternatively, you can suggest a time for your Intro session via an email to your mentee to get the ball rolling

Steps to Ensure a Successful Intro Session

Mentee:

  1. Research your mentor

  2. Prepare a list of your goals and expectations

  3. Make sure the meeting logistics are set

    1. Date, Time, Medium

  4. Introduce yourself and ask your mentor relevant questions about their expertise

  5. Discuss your goals and set mutual expectations with your mentor

  6. Book your next session at the end to build momentum

  7. Follow up with a “Thank You” email and get connected with your mentor

Mentor:

  1. Research your mentee

    1. Familiarize yourself with their background and goals provided on their profile

    2. View their LinkedIn profile for additional information

  2. Prepare your expert advise and brush up on your expertise

  3. Make sure the meeting logistics are set

    1. Date, Time, Medium

  4. Ask open, introductory questions

  5. Discuss goals and mutual expectations

  6. Stress the importance of confidentiality throughout the process
